IT Technical Support Engineer

The IT Technical Support Engineer will be a cornerstone of the organisation’s tech backbone, driving the smooth, efficient, and secure operation of all technology systems. With deep expertise in networking, server management, and cloud infrastructure, this role ensures uninterrupted communication, robust data storage, and top-tier digital security. The ideal candidate will not just maintain systems but proactively optimize them, playing a key role in empowering the company’s daily operations and long-term innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
Networking
- Configuration and Management: Setting up routers, switches, firewalls, and other network hardware to support a stable and secure network.
- Monitoring Performance: Using network monitoring tools to ensure consistent connectivity and identifying bottlenecks or anomalies.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving network issues such as connectivity disruptions or hardware failures.
- Security Implementation: Applying network security measures, such as VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and regular updates, to safeguard against cyber threats.
- Documentation: Keeping detailed records of network architecture, configurations, and changes for future reference.
Server Management
- Deployment: Installing and configuring servers to meet the organisation's data processing and storage needs.
- Maintenance: Regularly updating server software, applying patches, and ensuring hardware is functioning optimally.
- Performance Optimisation: Monitoring server performance and recommending upgrades or modifications as necessary.
- Virtualisation: Managing virtual servers and environments to enhance scalability and efficiency.
Cloud Infrastructure
- Cloud Setup: Configuring cloud platforms such to align with the organisation's operational goals.
- Monitoring: Ensuring cloud systems are performing optimally, with proper resource allocation and utilisation tracking.
- Security: Implementing cloud security protocols, including encryption, identity access management, and compliance checks.
Technical Support and Service Delivery
- Answering queries related to software, hardware, or network issues.
- Ensuring the smooth operation of communication systems such as email and messaging platforms.
- Ensure the resolution of all IT incidents and service requests within agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA).
- Successfully follow the agreed ITIL processes and procedures, whilst continually reviewing to find improvements to the current incident and service request processes.
- Provide support for all remote working services.
- Provide support for Savills core applications/services.
- Involved in desktop and laptop build process.
- Review the audio-visual function and provide support and improvements.
- Responsible for IT knowledge management to ensure the necessary information up to date and is available to the right people at the right time.
- Management of support projects to agreed time scales.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), server operating systems (Windows Server), and cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure).
- Industry-recognised certifications such as CCNA, MCSE, Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104), Microsoft Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500), or equivalent.
- Familiarity or exposure to network appliances such as Cisco Meraki, HPE Aruba, Extreme Networks (formerly Aerohive) and Fortigate firewalls.
- A strong IT Service management background, managing and measuring ITIL processes such as SLA’s, Incident, Change Management, Problem management, Asset and Configuration Management and IT Service reporting (ITILv4 Foundation certified desirable but not essential).
- Ability to diagnose complex issues and implement effective solutions promptly.
- Strong interpersonal skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical staff and collaborate with IT teams.
